View Full Version : Casa Bonita
Casa Bonita has turned a whole section of their Mexican village-themed restaurant into a haunted house for the month of October.
I went on Sunday, and I was impressed with what they had put together. The whole area surrounding Black Bart's Cave has been enhanced with spooky lighting and sound. There's a graveyard in what's usually the puppet show seating area, and there were even a few animatronics and other fun props. They added a few extra spooks inside the cave itself, as well.
It's a fun time, and probably a great place to take a kid who wants to go to a haunted house but isn't quite ready for the big leagues. They'll get a good feel for the atmosphere that goes with a haunted house, and will get a few good scares without encountering anything overly gory or any chainsaw-wielding maniacs.
Casa Bonita is located at Colfax and Pierce in Lakewood. They open daily at 11 and stay open until 9:30 Sun-Thu, and until 10 on Fri-Sat. There is no admission cost, but each guest is required to purchase a meal, which are in the $9-12 range for adults and $6-7 for children.
More information about the restaurant itself is available at Casa Bonita's website (http://www.casabonitadenver.com).

Ok let me get this right. You not only went to casa bonita voluntarily (without out of town visitors), and you are now recommending others to go as well.
WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!!!!!
Who goes to casa bonita?

Someone is actually recommending Casa Bonita?!?!??! Taco Bell is a delicacy compared to the slob that they serve at Casa Bonita, and that's not a compliment to Taco Bell either.

http://www.octoberlounge.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif I'm embarrassed to admit this but I honestly love Casa Bonita's cheese enchiladas. And no matter how bad you think the rest of the food is, you know you love those sopaipillas.
I go pretty often because I have kids and they like it.

I found this quote on their site and found it especially entertaining: "Casa Bonita has been the funnest AND tastiest place to eat in Denver for nearly thirty years. Few can resist the excitement of the live shows combined with our all you can eat dinners".

Hey now! Where's the love for Casa Bonita?! I'm saddened to think that so many people have such a low opinion of the place where many of us wasted away our childhood birthdays.
While the food isn't the best around, FloydFan and I go there several times a year and dine on their offerings. You haven't lived until you've eaten one of their cheese enchiladas. And their sopapillas are the best thing ever! If you are of age, their margaritas aren't bad either.
While I've never been there during Halloween, FloydFan and I are excited to go!
And by the way... the Casa Bonita episode of South Park was on tonight. That has to be one of the best cartoon potrayals of that hallowed place.

Crap, I've wanted to see that episode and have never gotten to. I've even thought about buying a $20 "best of" DVD just to watch it. I guess that I should have set a season pass on SP for my TiVo like I was thinking about.
I've talked to people from out of town about some episodes of SP and Casa Bonita came up. They thought that the show was funny as hell, but they went into complete shock when I told them that it's a real place.

hahahahahehehehehhoooo! -I've made one trip.... because of the South Park episode.
My man and I took a bus from Boulder to Denver and then biked from downtown to get to that place when we first moved here. We could not bike back however because our bellies would not comply. Whenever people visit we try to get them to go, but no one will conceed. *Sigh*

Same here! People are always so surprised when I tell them that Casa Bonita is real and has been a Denver attraction for over 30 years.
