I have always loved terror in the corn, this was the first haunted house i ever attended and it has always help a special place in my heart. however i feel that for the past few years not much has changed. I think that they have become comfortable with what they have developed and dont want to stray from what is good. i feel as though they need to change things up a bit, mabey a new theme instead of the ghost town, just something new to keep people interested. what does everyone else think about this?

As an actor there, The ghost town is permanent. The rooms change, but it's taken SOOOOOO much hard work, and such a long time to build that ghost town. The guys who build it are amazing guys, and put all their heart into it. It's a permanent fixture. They have, though, built onto the ghost town a couple years back adding a whole new section, which made it longer.

I never want to see the ghost town leave. I love it. And I may be biased, but I do feel it is supposed to be part of the whole "farm" idea. Come by this year, it's gonna be a lot different. I think only a few things are the same from last year, but we've changed quite a bit. Especially with the new theme. Plus this year they've been working hard on getting the actors to do more than just jump out and scream "boo".

Just because the layout is the same (only in the ghost town though) doesn't mean they should get rid of the ghost town. We've also added a whole new part after the ghost town. I don't really want to give anything away, but it's gonna be a good year. I can feel it.

I saw on the website that there are some changes for this year and can't wait to see them! I enjoyed this haunt in past years, and am looking forward to this year as well.

I've never been to Terror in the Corn but I am trying to make it so that I can go this year. This might be a stupid question but, do they have people in the corn maze to scare you? I went to a "haunted corn maze" (I don't remember the name of it or where it was) a couple years ago that was suppose to be scary but there wasn't anything in it to scare you. At one point my friend and i got so bored that we started scarying people ourselves.

You know i really do have to agree i do know a few people that worked on it and the gohst town really is a great central theme that plays into the farm atmosphere. the only things that i would like to highlight that i personally found was the best such as:

1. people jmping out of the corn and climbing on the wagon on its way to the haunt.

2. the headless horseman, while only some people noticed it i think it was a truly powerfull scare that really made for a great scare factor.

3. one year there was a man in a trailer that acted like a crazy guy that shot a shotgun and threw body parts over the top, it was a very nice combination of humor and horror.

4. the baits motel, at the start of the haunt was an amazing idea for controlling the crowd.

somethings i think it was last year made me very disapointed. there seemed to be different scenes as you rode the wagon and a few of them had actors in them. at one point i felt like the actors had just gotten their lines that day or that they just kinda made up there own as they went alot of people in the wagon kept asking hat it was supposed to be.

Terror in the corn has the possibility of being one of the best haunts colorado has to offer and i think that if they get all the actors really giving it there all and really get the crowd controll down to a science that this will definitly be the greatest haunt ever!

You want to know something really scary about their corn maze? The last time I went was a few years ago and apparently they don't tally the who goes in vs. who goes out. The result is the haunted house closing and people starting to go home with 4 people still inside.

But, I did actually like this house, I'd just stay away from the corn maze near closing time because once that giant inflatable head goes dark it makes it really hard to navigate.

HA i have a story about that as well!!!! a few years ago i went to terror in the corn and then to the maze, lol tword the end of the night they have the security guards make a sorta patrol through the maze, well we were trying to avoid these people and after a few min the entire farm was closed, there were no lights and no people left in the area lol this was like around 130 in the morning and we were all lost in the corn maze, lol it was a full moon and very creepy lol we all sat down and just sat very quiet, IT IS VERY SCARY TO BE THE ONLY ONES IN THE CORN MAZE AND TO HEAR NOISES LIKE PEPLE WALKIING AROUND!!!!!!!!!!!!. yea needless to say that is the last time i stay after close!

My guess is 5 to 10 minutes but I wasn't really timing it so i'm not sure. It created a really good introduction to the park but watch out, he pees.

I'd definitely say it's worth checking out this year. The wagon ride is probably about 15 minutes, then about 15 minutes through the corn, then about 15 minutes through the ghost town. So all in all about 45 minutes total. It's well worth it. Ha ha ha the comment about "watch out it pees" amused me. By far one of my favorite parts of the haunt if I do say so myself. Also the Pumpkin Creek Ghost Town is where it's at! That's where I've had the most fun acting, and the most fun as a customer going through it. I would definitely say walking through Terror in the Corn is important and not running. All of the props are so much fun to look at, that is of course, if we don't scare you too bad >.> Muahahahaha. Also a good thing in my opinion is that we have a good chunk of actors who have been with us for years, so it seems like the newbie actors are feeding off our energy and figuring it out fast.

Also the farm itself can be a lot of fun if you go on a weekend. Kettle corn, hot chocolate, wagon rides, corn mazes, lots and lots of pumpkins, all the nifty animals. Definitely a lot of fun. And if you kinda stay after the haunt closes you can personally meet the actors, as we tail it into the Party Barn for our grub!

I honestly think Terror in the Corn has such a great atmosphere, which is why I continue to drive and hour and half to work there! (Hour and a half in traffic on a Friday night YUCK!)

Anyway there's my two cents. I'm more than happy to answer any more questions concerning Terror in the Corn, or Anderson Farm's!!!!

Just a question,
My friend had some concern about going to this haunt because he said that the website made it look like a "kids Haunt". Is that true?" Is this a less scary, for a younger audience haunt?

Blueeyes1785
10-04-2007, 04:19 PM
Definitely not true.

I'm not sure what on the website made it seem like a kids haunt... The farm is good for children. Adults definitely would enjoy the haunt better than the farm.

Terror in the Corn is basically separate than the Farm itself. Different pay rolls, different budgets, different things. We don't recommend young children to go through terror in the corn.

So don't judge the haunt based solely on the fact it's located on a Fall Festival Farm.

The majority of people who come through are teenagers and adults. Some kids.

it's not dumbed down for children. I promise.

Also the pictures on the website are from like 4 or 5 years ago. The myspace pictures are from 2 years ago.

Oh and the slogan is corny we know. Not our choice!

I went one of the first nights it opened and i personally didn't get that scared BUT before that discourages you to go the props are amazing, set design are breathtaking and the actors are probably a lot better than they were the night i went (you got to warm up and find your character). They do have some kid stuff but i don't think the actual haunted attraction is necessarly intended for the younger audience. I would go but talk to LivingDeadGirl, she knows who the attractions are really intended for.

I am also a long time actor for Terror In The Corn. In the past few years I have also been a big part of the build crew. This year we started building all the way back in June. We had alot of big projects that we put together for the Huant this year. I know it hasnt been mentioned yet but the whole theme is Pirates Of The Cornibbean. I know it sounds corny but we did build a full size pirate ship in the corn this year. It was a big task for us this year but I would have to say it turned out beautifull.

That boat looks awesome. We saw it during the wagon ride back from the pumpkin patch. Can't wait to see it at night! Thanks for sharing the photo.

I'm glad you like the boat. Me and a few others spent a month putting that together. It was a great project. I think it adds alot to our haunt this year. Also the new shack at the end of the graveyard seems to be a great addition also.
