So...i basically get to help decide how the 13th Door gets modified this year and i wanted to ask you guys, cause i think you will actually give me constructive, helpful ideas, what would YOU change about the 13th door to make it scarier/more effective. Please, give something helpful instead of "FIX THE FACT THAT THE HOUSE SUCKS"...i know its not the best, but i love my brothers and sisters there, and i love that job, so i really wanna turn it into a great house. Let me know your thoughts.

IM already trying to get us to rely more on pefect timing/execution and acting instead of cheap props.

One thing that really bugged me about the whole "13th Door" storyline is that the incident at the hotel takes place in the year 1912-and yet my research into the matter confirmed that chainsaws weren't invented until the 1920s. So, WHY is there a (modern) chainsaw-wielding maniac on the loose in this haunt? It's a major flaw, or so it seems to me...or am I just nitpicking?
Also, the Maze at the end has a very "thrown-together" feel to it. Couldn't that be re-tooled into something more than just a series of black walls with a few props scattered throughout? The Maze has a lot of potential for some real scares, but it's never been tapped for its possibilities. Those walls could be painted to look like something out of "Silent Hill", with lots of blood, rust and decay.
I've got tons of ideas, but ,unfortunately, not a great deal of free time at my disposal. If Kathy and crew would like some help with creativity and realizing these ideas, I'm available evenings and part of the weekends.

A couple of suggestions of my own:

1. It felt like we jumped from door 8 to 12. I actually wonder if we missed part of the haunt by accidentally walking through an employee access. If that's the case, I would recommend making each room's exit a little more obvious (or marking employee access areas with "Wrong Way" signs or something to that effect). And if that's not the case, then make sure each door is numbered and obvious. Our group counted each one aloud, but after 8, we didn't see another number until 12.

2. I liked the idea of the hanging body parts in the maze, but as it's dark and hard to see, and a chainsaw is chasing you, it presents something of a safety issue. One member of our group got a nasty poke in the eye from a hanging body part while she was running from the chainsaw.

Ummm...there's a joke in there somewhere...but, since we're PG-13 here i'll try, "Watch out, you'll poke someone's eye out with that thing!" Hah!

If you are aiming for a certain time period, stick to it. Like Katt said if it doesn't belong replace it, like the chainsaw guy change him to a guy with an axe, or something like that. Maintain a consistant atmosphere throughout the haunt.
