Now taking applications for Haunted House Critics

Every year, we get hundreds of emails asking, "How can I be one of the official Haunted Denver haunted house critics?"

In the past, the answer has always been, "You probably can't."

Until now.

We're looking for a few new critics, and we're giving all of our fans a chance to be considered. If you'd like us to consider you as a potential critic, fill out an online application.

The deadline to apply is August 18, 2006.

Maybe I will fly around Brighton and see if they want me, if not, Rob will you love me then enough to play with you if I promise to wear underwear??

Hmm...is there a way to keep in contact with the reviewers, make sure they come on a good night to the House you work at?

Just a thought, i know there are nights at 13th and Dominion that will be better than others due to cast changes.

I think the idea is that the reviewers will come through without warning on an "average" night so that the critics are given the same show as the rest of the public would.

Heh... that would defeat the purpose. If a haunt is going to charge the same admission price every night, it should be an equally good show every night, regardless of who&#39;s working.

So in case anyone&#39;s curious, we got over 100 applications, for like three open spots. Scarica and I have been reading all of the applications and will be scheduling interviews with the finalists.

Also, if you looked at the application, there was a trick question...

The very first instruction (in boldface, no less) was to read all of the instructions before submitting the application.

The fourth or fifth instruction was to leave the answer to Question 13 intentionally blank so that we knew you were following the first instruction, which was to read all of the instructions.

Question 13 itself was an essay question that read, "How good is your memory?"

Something like 25% of all of the applications we received still had an answer for Question 13.

Let&#39;s just say that it helped us to weed out the people who don&#39;t listen very well and forget to follow the directions. Possible headache narrowly avoided. Woot.

44% is huge number. Eventhough I didn&#39;t apply I read through the whole app and when I got to the instruction indicating to leave question 13 black, I sort of chuckled. That was very clever.

Yea, i figure dit was kindof a dumb question and its not really fair to the REAL rating...i just wanna make sure im THERE this year. I wanna get judged by the critics personally. Im always kind conscious about my work. Just my thoughts.

I thought this was really cool opportunity and gives some of us Haunted House enthusiasts a chance to spread the good word.

Any updates would be great. I can then stop chewing my nails, pulling out my hair, and doing my impression of the maggot guy in Poltergeist. You know, the guy that goes to get chicken out of the fridge and finds all kinds of little crawling things. It&#39;s been really tough to narrow it down. We received so many great applications and I wish we could take them all! Our fans really are the best, and you&#39;ve all made it tough for us to pick out the best of the best.

We&#39;ve narrowed it down from 107 applications to 14 finalists who are being contacted this weekend to have interviews arranged.

If you don&#39;t hear from us this weekend because your application wasn&#39;t picked, please know that with so many outstanding applications it was probably a very close call on your app, and we still hope that all of you will post your own haunt reviews this season.

The next tough part is going to be taking the 14 finalists and narrowing it down to 4. In case I haven&#39;t mentioned already, Rob, Dayvid, Erica and Victoria will be returning this year, leaving 4 vacancies on the team. The finalists will interview with all four of us next weekend.

And soon thereafter, we&#39;ll announce the new critics!
