What music do you think gets you ready to haunt/is good for the haunting process.

Im tired of the usual weird music mixed with stupid audio tracks, Personally, i think we need more Industrial Metal and such. I mean, stuff like KoRn's music from Queen of the Damned or the Later tracks on all of the Slipknot CDs, and MY favorite HAUNT band, Lamb of God...their stuff is so evil sounding, i think it would be perfect to toss on RUIN or WALK WITH ME IN HELL while chasing people with that helm and mask.

Just my thoughts.

Music that gets me in the haunting/October/H'ween mood is hands down Midnight Syndicate. It has such an old feel to it...I love it. I listen to my Halloween mix which has horror film themes, M.S., Danny Elfman, and lots of pipe organ music when it's raining or just feel "in that Halloween-ish" mood. I like orchestral, sweeping, dreary, emotional type stuff for that.

That being said, when we did our home haunt, we had about 8 different soundtracks we made for different sections of the haunt...the one that had Misery Tomb by Samhain was the one people freaked out at.

I prefer sounds that add to the atmosphere and make the set seem more real. So I'd have to say it depends on the theme of the particular set that is being used in that part of the haunt.

I absolutely agree. In my opinion it's more important to have realistic sound effects than say, mood music. Because I want a haunt to feel real to me, not in my head think "oh, a really scary part is coming up, listen to the music". I think just as much as sound effects can add the wrong ones definately detract.

I agree both ways. I thi nk atmostpheric ambient music can REALLY do a good job. But when i say music like Lamb of God, i dont mean timed, i just mean its creepy sounding, its menacing, and i know it can really get under some peoples skin. I think we need a perfect, in between mix.

This is only semi-related, but one of the things I want to try in one of my eventual haunted houses is to have a really loud, disorienting indoor waiting area, lit like a rock concert, with Ozzfest-style music played at Ozzfest volume on an Ozzfest-quality sound system. Kind of like they used to do with Brutal Planet, but much, much better. And then I want the first room of the haunt to be a dark, soundproofed room, so that you go from bright and loud to dark and silent. For some reason, I think that would be a disorienting beginning.

Speaking of "stupid audio tracks" I never want to hear that line from "13th Door" ever again. You may know the one, it goes a little something like this:

"So much blood, so much blood..."

Ahhhh, memories.

Yesindeedy. That was two years ago-and I think I remember seeing you, judging from your self-description in some other post. We were never formerly introduced. I was playing the "Butler" who welcomes the guests near the beginning of the show. I did play the "Billiard Room Guy" at least twice.

So speaking of the 13th door, does anyone remember that chainsaw guy?
It seems like for the last 10 years I have seem him every year.
I just want to know his name, I have always tried to get it out of him but he doesn't talk.
I have asked the cashier and she said to go ask him, he's a nice guy he will tell you. Nope
Is he single, married?
Anyway let me know, cause I want to go back.
Thanks

I say that you oughta muster up all o' yer courage, sashay on up to him and give him some candy, a card with some lovely poetry-and then demonstrate your hedge trimmers on his arm hair.
What big bloody freaky guy could resist all that?
