Has anyone else heard about the release of "Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas" in 3-D? It's supposed to be released October 26th, I believe. This is a film that I watch at least once a year-and it always fills me with Hallowe'en joy, like a trick-or-treat bag filled to the top!
I was disappointed by The Corpse Bride and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but at least I can always pop in Beetlejuice , Ed Wood, or Edward Scissorhands to remind myself why I used to practically worship Mr. Burton. Oh yeah, Sleepy Hollow is on the list of favorites as well.

Where's Hudzilla?
Oh and Sleepy Hollow is playing on the giant screen at Continental on October 25th at 9pm. Its only $5 too.
I actually enjoyed Charlie. As for TNB4C, wow... a 3-D version? That will rock. I love visiting Disneyland's Haunted Mansion during the last few months of the year when they convert it to a whole Nightmare Before Christmas theme. Of course, I love visiting Disneyland's Haunted Mansion the rest of the year, too.

You left out his (I believe*) directorial debut, Pee Wee's Big Adventure. And aside from Deep Roy I enjoyed Charlie as well.
$5 for a movie? Well if I'm free I'm down for that, I actually kinda liked the movie too.

Thanks for the tip, Tye. The Continental is right down the street from me. Maybe some of us can get together for an outing? I live near Yale and Quebec, so I could easily walk over to the theater.

I too was disappointed by Corpse Bride, but I really like Charlie. I saw his first piece "Vincent" (which is on the NBC DVD) waaaaay back in the '80s (before y'alls time) when I was in film school in LA. The man is brilliant!
I just read about his new endeavor with Johnny Depp: a filmed musical version of Steven Sondheim's "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street." That was a Broadway musical back in the 70s for those out of the loop on musicals...there's a great filmed stage performane on DVD with Angela Lansbury. It's a great show and I think if anyone should direct the film version it's Burton. My husband decided that only Tim Burton is capable of bringing Sondheim musicals to film...like "into the Woods."

I agree that "Sweeney Todd" sounds like it may conjure up the old Burton magic. Have you seen "Frankenweenie" by any chance? That was an earlier effort that Disney kept in a vault, that is, until Tim Burton became really popular.
Yes, "Vincent" is a gem. That was unbelievably cool that Vincent Price agreed to narrate it.

Awwww, Your Witchiness-It's not like that, I'm sure. It's just that I believe that your outing involved going to a bar, right? I think that a cinematic excursion is something that more people would take a shine to. Now, hitting the bar afterwards is a possibility...or just going out for a late-night snack?

No...it's "schnap"...like the german scientist in the VW ads...did you guys catch those? The actor is Peter Stormare and played the creepy Russian eye doctor in Minority Report.
Peter Stormare on IMDB (http://imdb.com/name/nm0001780/)

I have no idea why I just told y'all that...it's useless facts like these that float around in my brain!

Rob my dear you are right I did mention a bar, but I also mentioned movies and even checking out haunted yards, even dinner if I am not mistaken. I am not a lush like real, I am open to whatever. I just mentioned a bar cause i was talking with real and I was trying be to cool....lol http://www.octoberlounge.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif I think it would be a blast for all of us to do a midnight showing of Rocky Horror.

Ahhh...yes, Rocky Horror...now you are talking my language. It was my life and lifeblood for 4 years when I lived in So. Cal (or I guess the hip new thing is to call it the O.C.)...I was in a live stage cast in Newport and visited the NuArt in Santa Monica every week...played Frank for the most part...ah long story...we'll have a drink and discuss it.
Sadly, it is not playing anywhere in the state at the moment...I know...I checked. I heard there was a great cast in Salt Lake of all places. So, I'm hoping to do an SLC roadtrip...see Rocky, go to that Rocky Point Haunted House and go to the new IKEA store (if it's open). That's something I never thought I'd say, "Hey...let's take a roadtrip to Salt Lake!"

And yeah, Scarica I'm "that guy" too, I looked up Peter Stormare on IMDB a long time ago when those commercials came out. Classic, the stereotypical creepy Russina, actuall a Swede. Who knew? Then again aren't the Swedish just crazy outright? Oh well.
As for Rocky Horror Picture Show, those people scare me - not "those people" but the people that get a kick out of seeing Tim Curry in drag *insert cringe here*.

Actually, I know a lot more about Peter Stormare than one person should...I knew he was Swedish...but that's because my brother is a film actor and stuntman in Sweden and his favorite actor is Peter Stormare. I don't know many Swedes with a sense of humor (except my neice but she's also American), but I guess when they're mocking the Germans, it turns out well...oooh, schnap!
By the way...Tim Curry in drag IS sexy...well...maybe not these days, but back in the day...oooh yeah. I'm picturing you cringing right now!! Hah...have a great weekend!

DAMN, stormare is a sweede? Well he plays the RUSSIAN well, cause thats usually the ONLY role he plays....cept for SATAN in Constantine.
Speaking of less than B movies, im with Perm here on RHPS....that group of people scares me. I dated a rocky girl....that crap gets REAL creepy real quick.
then again, i listen to bands like SLipknot, Coal Chamber, lamb of God, Mudvayne, i watch movies like Silent Hill and Saw over and over, and i play games like HITMAN to no end........that mixture can get creepy here and there
In short, im not one to talk
BOO
AH
...i scared myself.....
...why am i awake....
....damn..
....whoot for 3-D Movies....they are doing Star Wars as well over the next 6 years.
