Nathan,

First off, how incomprehensibly lame of you to come and promote your crappy little site here. If Haunted Denver sucks so bad, why are you using its boards to promote your site? I went to your site. It's written like an 8th-grade book report and is about as visually appealing as a last-minute science fair project.

Second, I don't own Haunted Denver any more, but if I did, I would sue your ass for using Haunted Denver's copyrighted material to make your "Locations" page. The fact that you have the exact same content as the HD "Attractions" page, including the same errors that they just recently fixed (which I take as proof that you plagiarized), is unethical at best, illegal at worst.

Third, why don't you just be honest about why you started that site. You didn't think there was anything wrong with the other sites. You just figured that starting your own review site was an easy way to score free haunted house tickets.

How do I know that? Because I used to *be* you six years ago when I started Haunted Denver. The only difference was that I knew how to build a decent website, I knew haunted houses, and I knew how to write.

But you are full of s**t to imply that Haunted Denver's reviews have *ever* been tainted by the fact that they accept paid advertising. No haunt's review has ever been boosted by the fact that they advertised. If you think that's true, why don't you go ask the guy who owns the haunt in Brighton. He advertised last year and then they got a pretty mediocre review, and I was the one who had to take that angry phone call and tell him sorry, the reviews stand. You don't get to buy yourself a better review.

And by criticizing sites like HD for having ads, you're just setting yourself up to be a hypocrite later. If you're not planning to sell ads on your site, then I'm curious to know how you expect to get the money to pay to keep your site going. The first three years that Haunted Denver was running, before there was paid advertising, I spent about $750 per year just for hosting, another $500 or so per season for the email newsletter service, and had to dump in a ton of hours to build the damn thing.

I guarantee that you'll do one of three things with your site: 1) Start selling ads to pay the site's bills, 2) Move it to a free (ad-supported) webhost, or 3) Discontinue the site. I guarantee you don't have the money, knowledge, determination, or tenacity to follow this project through.

And it's crap for you to jump in and piss all over other people's hard work.

I used to bite my tongue when arrogant little pricks like you used to say "Haunted Denver's reviews are biased." But now, I no longer own the site, nor do I work for it or have any kind of employment connection to any haunt, and I'm calling you out on the carpet.

The WHOLE POINT of Haunted Denver is to provide the kind of reviews you think you can magically provide, and that you think HD is somehow failing to deliver. That is bulls**t.

You want to review haunted houses? Great. But you better not do a piss-poor job of it, or else you drag through the mud every other legitimate haunted house critic in Denver. And don't go stepping on the people who have been doing this site as a labor of love for years in an attempt to make yourself look like the savior of haunted house reviews.

Denver doesn't need you or your little suckfest of a website.

Regards,
Rob, aka Shade

Rob... nice!

Nathan... at least we both agree that ratings can be a little (or a lot) inflated around here although, some of my insinuations have turned out to bite me in the ass, I know some of the critics personally and know that they are just enthusiasts. They go about it differently from you and me, they tend to rate things higher because they are more interested than critical but I don't think that they've ever been on the take. I don't agree with them completely but I think you are an absolute tw@t for posting your site here. Why don't you tell me where you live so I can drop trow and sh#1 on your lawn and then we'll call it even. Come on, promote your site professionally.

Well, I can't totally fault you, I've seen the hauntedratings site and a mini sample of their reviews:

Frightmare was really good, you should see it.

Carnevil was the best haunted attraction I've EVER been to! You should see the setup, from the moment we stepped out of the car we knew we were in for an event of a lifetime. Now I've seen babies born and solar eclipses and been to the summit of Mount Everest but nothing and I mean NOTHING compares to the spectacular sights and sounds that we would get over the next hour and a half!

Haunted mansion was excellent, I recommend it.

I'm not totally sure but I think I saw haunted ratings when I was out checking out some of the northern attractions, and if I'm right they weren't exactly an accurate cross section of the demo.

well can anyone answer my question?

Is it scary? Well that depends on what you find scary...everyone's version of what is scary is different. I would go through reviews from last year and compare them one critic to another then decide. Or wait until 2007 reviews come out this week and go from there.

Yes, it depends greatly. What are you afraid of?

10-15-2007, 05:18 PM
Well, lets see. I am scared of being chased with a chainsaw with no where to go. haha. and i am also afraid of rooms where there is something you know is going to pop out, and just as you are walking by, it does. any of these thing in field of corpses? well il go anyways if there is.

I REALLY think you should go asylum22. you would love this one part that i am thinking of if the things you listed really does scare you. If you want to get really freaked out, walk slowly up the stairs in the haunt. I think this happens about mid way through it. It's a part you won't forget.
