Which do you prefer in a haunt, having a guide or no guide?

I remember when lots of haunts were presented as guided tours. Then, this trend stopped for a while until Field of Corpses revived it. To my knowledge, that's the only house around where you have a guide.

Does having a guide spoil the scares? Or does it make the timing of the scares more accurate?

For me, it can do both, depending on the guide. The only place I have seen having a guide lately is FOC also. At FOC i have loved having the guide due to the fact that they blend in with the haunt. For example; last year and the year before when you would go through the sewage pipe the guide would pick up a stick, skip through the pipe and drag the stick along the wall. Little things like that really made it an amazing exspirence. This year when i went to FOC my tour guide kind of sucked. She kept on breaking out of character and talking to us in a normal voice, which kind of made it seem like the haunt would have been better without her. It just depends on the tour guide. I can see how it can take away from the haunt and i can see how it can add to it. It just depends on your guide.

Up until this year I have always disliked a guide....it always distracts me from the haunt itself. This year, our groups guide at FOC was amazing!! He rocked it so well he didn't get on my nerves. But, that was this particular guide...I may have a bad experience with another.
I do like the killer timing you get with a guide, but I really do prefer to wing it on my own....

I really enjoyed having a guide. It made it scarier for me.I think its realyy up to the haunt owners to make their guides good. i mean it really would suck with a terrible guide.
