Okay, alright. Let's just say that you had a million simoleons and decided to sink it all into producing the ULTIMATE haunt experience. Let your imaginations run wild! What exactly would YOU do with such awesome power? I'll tell you later what I'd do...

Go to some haunts in the midwest and you still can.

Without thinking about it for too long, I would want someplace that attacks the mind. I dont remember the name of the movie but it was with Jennifer Lopez and it was where she went into the mind of a killer to find something, I dont remember what, but to me that would be freaky. Some place where you feel lost and unable to find your way out would be scarier then a person with a chainsaw. Its more real and scarier also due to fact it would be something that would remain with you and you would think about it for while. Cross from reality and make believe would be wild.

Yes Tye that one. Thank you. But I thought this out more. If I am going to dream about milion dollars let me dream about this. My house would be ever changing. It would be a house that is capable of know its guests. It would change for every one. You would walk intoa large room empty cold and quiet. The room is alive with the abilty to read one thoughts and know what their fears are. Then the room would transform into a scene that would play out that fear. And to leave the room would be to complete the scene. Of course there could be safety nets in case that they couldnt complete it. But once done, it would return to the cold empty room until the next victim and their thoughts enter. Again, to me the largest fear is not a scary bunny but if its the inner fear of that person then ok. Everyone has fears, things that scare them internally. I dont get scared by aliens, but snakes freak me out. I dont get scared by 3 headed men, cause I know it isnt real. But I do if a regaular man is following me waiting for me, that could be real and have more of an effect on me. This was a really good question, it made me think. Very cool. Thanks Rob.

I'm sure that it's for legal reasons that you're not allowed to touch the audience members, in order to avoid lawsuits from accidental injuries. With dim lighting and adrenaline-charged patrons packed like sardines into tight quarters- it's a situation in which you could all too easily cause personal injury. As I'm sure you're aware, haunt audiences and workers are always suffering minor cuts and bruises, etc. as it is, usually as a result of cramming too many people at once into small areas .
I think that the hands-off policy makes sense, especially when everyone out there is looking for any opportunity to sue someone.
I had a drunken yahoo get a little too rough with me one night at "13th Door" and my only defense was to yell at him. I hate it when one is forced to break character but sometimes there's simply no choice.

My pleasure, W.W.-Your haunt scenario reminds me of the HoloDeck from Star Trek. The idea of being forced to confront personal fears is an intriguing one, but I'm not sure that many people would be willing to do this for entertainment. Haunts are supposed to be FUN, after all. Would you be willing to shell out twenty bucks or more to be stuck in a room full of slithering, hissing reptiles?

Speaking of scary bunnies- that "Frank", from Donnie Darko is not someone I'd care to meet in a dark alley.

Hehe, that's what Leonard Pickel told the midwest haunters that claimed that they still touch guests.

Sounds crazy, but people here pay to get the crap scared out of them anyway...whether it's haunted houses or horror flicks...what's the next logical step for those whose adrenaline high must be fed?

I like the holodeck idea...that would make a great haunted house. The patrons tell the haunt their ideal world and they take that ideal and thrash the hell out of it and throw you in the middle of it. Sweet.

Okay so we have to figure out a different shortened form of Robeaukatt than just "Rob" because I keep getting confused as to whom is being addressed. And by "we" I mean Witch. http://www.octoberlounge.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif

While I do think that that is a good idea, we have to consider the fact that not everyone goes to a haunted house to be scared. The guy taking his date there certainly doesn't want his greatest fears unleashed on him, he's going to see his date scared and get his entertainment that way. It would definetely have to be for a specialized audience. If you only focus on their scares, each person will feel isolated and while they do get a great scare, some people may actually be terrorized and we don't want to go that far. Just my thoughts.

Ok first thing first Duh didnt even think about it "Rob" I will change it for ya ! Sorry hon Maybe we can do a a Rob and then a mini me rob ...J/k no problem http://www.octoberlounge.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif
Second, very good thought Tye, I would hate a guy on a date hoping maybe to get laid to cry like a little girl and maybe ruin that chance. http://www.octoberlounge.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif http://www.octoberlounge.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif http://www.octoberlounge.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif maybe we can have it when they buy tickets they can have privacy to pre warn the house and then maybe focus on the girlfriend so he could look like a hero and save her from her fear. Have it set up differantly. Hero's are like Rock Stars ...can always get lucky...lol

Oh, i know why the rule is in place. Id have people sign wavers or some legal form. I just think it would be so much creepier if we could touch them at some points, and much better for releasing stress if one of the guests got too rowdy and you could literally drag them out, or if they get a bit frisky with the ladies, knock em out.

Thats just me though. I really cant figure out what my dream haunt would be, but im not really in that mindset yet, so that could be why.

September first tho, it'll kick in.

I was trying to think of some theme that would be unique and yet feasible with current technology. Basically, the audience members would assume the roles of paranormal investigators. Yes, there's a Ghostbusters vibe to my idea.
The set-up would be that the players have been assembled to investigate a site that is purported to be very active with supernatural goings-on. They'd be equipped with devices used for detecting such activity and maybe even with some defensive instruments for fighting off an attack!
The locale would probably be a hospital (insane asylum?), prison, or maybe an old supermarket, just to be kooky.
The haunt would need at least fifty professional actors, who will be well-paid for their talents. I'd also have a lot of animatronic surprises, including projections.
That pretty much opens the scenario for any number of chills and thrills. What do you think? Be honest. I can take it.

I dont know who it was that was saying that enclosing you in and trying to find a way out woudl be the best, but I do have to agree. I always secretly wish that there wasnt a "guide" through the house, or places that I couldnt go. Something that would be scarier would deffinitly be being put in a place and trying to find my way out. Like, at Brutal Planet last year, the second to last room. Where it was pitch black and I couldnt see ANYTHING and we were left to find the door out. That scared me MORE than anything in that house. Not knowing where I am going or when I am turned around and lost is what I think money should be spent on...to get that atmosphere...
am i making sense?
