New Haunted Denver Critics?

[Haunted Denver]

Every year, we get hundreds of emails asking, "How can I be one of the official Haunted Denver haunted house critics?"

In the past, with one exception, the answer has always been, "You probably can't."

Until now.

We're looking for a few new critics, and we're giving all of our fans a chance to be considered. If you'd like us to consider you as a potential critic, you will need to fill out an application, which will include writing samples, including a review of a haunted house you have visited in the past.

Be prepared to write logically and in an entertaining fashion, and write a lot, did we mention you need to write?

Also, be prepared to give up a great deal of your free time in October, essentially all of it at the beginning of the month, and definitely your weekends.

Being an official critic is fun, but don't underestimate the amount of hard work it takes!

I wanted to add an unsolicited thought or two on this.....

If you are considering applying for the critics team here are some things to take into account:

TIME...you sacrifice ALOT of it doing this job. From the start of the season through the end of October really your weekends are pretty busy.

Also there are deadlines to meet in submitting your reviews and there are usually at least 6 at a time that must be written, proof read, edited and turned in on time.

Transportation. Reliable wheels to meet up is important!! It is a tight schedule that has to be kept. Also factor in the cost of fuel as that is out of your own pocket. There is a LOT of driving involved and a lot of mileage.

I&#39;m still on the fence this year on participating for the HD Critics Team. This is a really hard decision, so I&#39;m going to have to think long and hard this week...

We never know from season to season if we will have an opening, but if you feel it&#39;s best to wait to apply, it will come up again, just never know when.

Any idea to when we will know the results of who is staying on the critics team and who will be joining? The season is quickly getting close, houses are getting ready, costumes are being bought by youngins, and I have already bought my supply of candy corn!! God I love still to this day, putting 2 peices of candy corn in my mouth like fangs before I eat them!

Still no idea yet. The applications process will be closing up very soon and final decisions will be made as to the makeup of this season&#39;s team. Once that is completed, the team will meet up, get excited and get out there reviewing!
It&#39;s always a challenge to get a team together and get ready for the season. Lot&#39;s of applications to go through, lot&#39;s of people to interview, and lot&#39;s of planning for the upcoming season.
I&#39;m hoping that we will know by this weekend so that the team can get ready. I wish I had more info than that, but it is all I know at the moment.

Candy corn fangs....hahahaa I used to do that too. Gave it up now that I can&#39;t stand candy corn anymore.

That&#39;s not enough...what needs to happen to properly initiate them is to lock them in my house, with my family for 48 hours with no way out and no phone to call for help!!! That would be the best way to initiate them!! Baptism by fire is what I say!

I am glad your back Jason. Nice to see long term critics. I was getting worried because between you possibly backing out and Erica missing I wasn&#39;t sure if it was dangerous being a critic this past season. I emailed you privately to make sure all was ok and didn&#39;t hear anything back from you. No need to ignore it, just wanted to make sure all was ok since I also applied for critic this year and wanted to make sure it was safe and that we didn&#39;t have unhappy people killing off the critics. I know we can get unruly at times.

It was way too funny and went on late into the night which has made working today unbearable...almost. The only thing that&#39;s keeping me going today is knowing that once I&#39;m done working, I get to start editing last night&#39;s film...Can&#39;t wait!
