Horror, Cult movies, Slashers, B-Movies, Monster, Black & White, ect..
Let's hear some!
Mine would have to be..
-Evil Dead Series.
-Return Of The Living Dead.
-Re-animator. [Lovecraft!]
-Dead Alive. [Which the Esquire is playing in October as the Midnight movie!!]
-Eraserhead, [Not really a horror, more abstract and psychologically creepy. Always puts me in the most disturbed mood after I watch it. Lynch is a genuis.]
Those are just a few of mine, the list could go on forever, so let's hear some of your favorites!

Slasher films are okay but I really like a film that is genuinely scary, which slasher films aren't.

It's gonna be awesome! The Esquire Movie Theater (6th & Downing) is playing Dead Alive on October 17th and 18th. Then on halloween they're playing the first Nightmare on Elm Street, then the week after that Army Of Darkness. I'm really excited.

I'm the most excited for seeing Dead Alive. I've seen it at the Esquire before, but it was good times and it's been a while.
I just saw AOD at the Continental a few weeks ago for their Flashback Wednesday. That was magical because I had never been lucky enough to see it on the big screen before.
Nightmare on Elm Street may be a classic and it scared the crap out of me when I was a kid. Elm is just super cornball now. I remember laughing most of the movie when I saw it recently. The scene at the end with the convertible top closing and looking like his sweater was the worst.

That's always awesome to watch old horror flicks on the big screen. I always go see the Exorcist at the midnight show when it's playing.

I'd love it if they did the 'Classic' monster movies on the big screen.
Imagine the original Frankenstein, Dracula, and Wolfman on the big screen!

Holy hoppin' Tesla coils, Skelter'-I'd give one of my titanium-plated toes just to see any of the Universal classics on the big screen, especially "The Creature from the Black Lagoon" and (personal all-time favorite) "Bride of Frankenstein".
The new version of "The Wolfman" has me rather excited, what with Benicio Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins involved. Have you seen the makeup designs yet? They are delightfully "old school".
Sayyy, why doesn't my avatar show up? Gremlins?

I'd give one of your toes to see those on the big screen as well. I have them and most of the other Classic Monster Movies on DVD. I have a big screen tv, but is just not the same as going to the Continental.

Well...
Remakes of favorite old classics scare me. (My nightmare Haunt would be sitting in a movie theater watching my favorite movies being wrecked by modern production crews...and the way things in Hollywood are going, I've been living this horror).
That said, Benicio Del Toro did the fantastic Pan's Labyrinth and was involved in the equally fantastic The Orphanage, so that is encouraging.
I loved The Wolfman and am still concerned though. I've not seen any previews, so, at this point, I'll say that I am cautiously optimistic.

I was a huge horror movie buff growing up. I like most of those already mentioned. One of my favorites though was the first Nightmare on Elmstreet. The idea of someone controlling your dreams and killing you in your sleep, always was unerving. The only film that has actually ever gave me nightmares though, even as an adult, was Aliens. Even now and then when day to day life seems threatening in some shape or form, I will find myself running from Aliens in my dreams! So for me, that was probably my all time favorite horror movie.

I agree. I wish most horror movies would build suspense and tension like The Orphanage did. Sadly, we are usually left with some serial killer splattering gore on the camera as "realistic FX" are supposed to scare us now.

I agree. The horror genre has really lost its way

It's really terrible. Nowadays, there is no variety in the horror genre. Just lame, dull and tacky "Killing" game movies, and remakes (most of the time) ruining originals. I guess our generation and ones to come will just have to stick to the classics.
