Has anyone ever stayed in Manitou springs before? It's apparently a haunted town outside of colorado springs.
Me and Tiff went there and had a great time (during the day), and went to Cliff House hotel where we talked to one of the employees in the elevator and he was talking about all kinds of strange things happening all the time... I thought it would be awesome to stay there on halloween! Some people get a little too freaked out by actual haunted places though so...
Anyways...

Been to Manitou Springs and have stayed there. Never had any experiences beyond the weirdness of some of the locals. I'm always down to go somewhere that may really be haunted!!

My wife and I have spent a night their on the 4th floor. This is where the childern are playing in the hall, and an old man roams the halls. During the middle of the night my wife woke up and felt like someone was staring at here. Nothing happened to me.
The next summer we went on the haunted tour which is very interesting and fun. On the fourth floor their is a bell tower where you can take a picture at the top of the stairs, sometimes the face of the old man will show up. One of our friends that was with us took a picture and the mans face was over her right shoulder. Very cool and erie.

I have to admit that when I went to Central City to see if that ghost appeared few months ago, it was very creepy in the old cemetery. Some of them are far in woods and all you hear are sounds of nature and movements of wildlife. Alot of the graves are over 100 years old so with no lights, awesome natural sounds and very old tombstones, it makes for a great place to get freaked out. We were having a hard time finding the actual gravesite at first, when we found out where we needed to go, we had to hurry to get out of where we were at, we didn't want to get stuck there at dark. I highly recommend going to places like that anytime at night. It gives you more of a real affect. Just don't go to look for that ghost, she won't appear.

I was just up at the cemeteries in Central City a couple of weeks ago. Took some cool pics of headstones while I was there.

Not sure what that's for...almost looks like an old coke oven. Not sure what it is. I bet someone in Central City knows.

Some are hard to find. The best ones are if you go straight through town to the other side of town. Those are the ones with no lights outside and go up a hill a ways and at night that add a great effect to the visit. Your surronded by trees and no thru traffic!

I love Manitou Springs. That Cliff House hotel was boarded up for years before they reopened it. It had a fire at one point. The pictures of that are awesome.
Too bad it is so expensive.
Funny, I've never thought of Manitou Springs as a haunted town, but it definitely has a different feel to it than Colorado Springs (a good thing, in my opinion).

The Stanley Hotel is awesome! I was there a couple weeks ago and took the tour. I didn't see any ghostly old man, but there was some other strange things going on.
The stuff that we noticed were those strange dots appearing in our pictures at certain places in the Hotel. I've heard that people think that they are dust in the air with light reflecting from the flash or something. I just know that I've never seen that happen before anywhere else. Another strange going on with the camera is that I put fresh batteries in the camera. We went for a hike in Estes Park and when we got back to the car, the battery indicator on the camera still said they were full. We got to the hotel and only took a handful of pictures, like 3-5 before the battery started to die and the camera would only stay on for about one picture before it would shut it's self down. The final strange happening, my GF was trying to take pictures with the dieing camera batteries and then on the 2nd floor, for no reason, she started to cry and couldn't help it.
I'm typically a skeptic so it's hard for me to believe that this was at all supernatural. Though I can't deny what I experienced.
The other reasons that I loved this place was some of the history behind it. The stories of the Stanley family were cool. Plus it's always awesome to be in the place that inspired "The Shining".

So did you get anything cool on the camera besides the orb?

Unfortunately no. I would love to get back there some time and hopefully a bunch of extra batteries so I can go crazy with the camera to see if I can find anything new.
I'm really interested in the room with the large Piano. Our tour guide had some fantastic stories about Mrs. Stanley and that room before and after her death. I'd love to stay in the room above and see if I can hear the piano being played in the middle of the night as people claim.

They actually give haunted tours in Manitou. I plan to check it out. But I have always wanted to sleep in a "haunted" place. Recently in CO Springs, I just may have. I was in the Budget Motel and two nights in a row my TV turned out at exactly 3AM by itself. I asked if there were any timers or any reason for the TV would do that, because after all, it was waking me up! They said no. There was no reason it should be doing that. I was excited by the third night and actaully stayed awake to see if it would happen again. But it didn't. So that is one happening I just am not able to explain. Was it really a ghost trying to get my attention? I just don't know.

Also for those that are willing to make the trek to Glenwood Springs, the Hotel Colorado is rumored to be haunted. They have a ghost tour of the hotel that gives you some of the history of the hotel and its ghosts.

It's not just "rumored," that place is definitely haunted. I've stayed in the Roosevelt Suite there. The place is the real deal. Not sinister or scary, but haunted for sure.

Woot, I've got to put that on my "to do before I die" list. I'd love to see something funky and try to figure out what caused it.
