Whoa, wait a minute how'd this turn into a Transformers discussion? And for the record Megatron, the original, the Walther PPK was totally the shiznit, not that lame tank they turned him into later.

Optimus is a damn pimp. Though on average, Decepticons are so much better than Autobots.

Think about it, the bots have a few awesome TFormers (Ops and Jetfire for example). Though at the same time, they have Bumblebee, Seaspray, and the worst of them all Wheelie. Then look at the Decepticon's roster, Megs, Soundwave, Starscream, Devastator, Cyclonus, all bad asses.

Actually, Megs was a Walther P38 not a PPK. And yes, he does rock in that form.

Yes, I am also a TFormers Geek, so sue me. http://www.octoberlounge.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

LOL, to funny, that is cool of you! Wink, wink, nudge, nudge, it has changed. OVER THE TOP is how we do it in this darn city.

Adding to the topic, the number one thing that mesmerized me in a haunt was the first electric chair Ed Edmunds made from Distortions Unlimited and he had it in the Dark Museum in Greeley at his old shop. The first time I saw that thing I knew the Haunted House industry was heading in the right direction and would soon be equal to the entertainment value we all wanted to see as customers and offer as owners or set designers. It took us all to a new level.

The next best scene was at Universal Studios Horror Nights 3 years ago in a vampire haunt where the entire front of the sound stage was encased with a huge flying buttress facade complete with horse drawn buggy and gothic attire. It was the number 1 set I have ever seen built for a haunt and the haunt was not just beautiful, but over the top scary.

Stay close to those that inspire you to continue to challenge yourself.

I enjoy this topic, keep it up shockaa khan's! Shock ya later! Opps, I mean Chaka Khan in the normal world.

Also, speaking of the old Kmart haunt, I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE TESLA COIL. I believe that was done by Mark Mathew Simmons (???) or the Diabolical crew.

I can never forget the theater scene in the old March of Dimes haunted house at Lakeside.

I will never forget my first butcher scene I saw at the Jaycees haunt in downtown Loveland over 20 years ago complete with a running river in a forest.

Glad you asked! This city like most, has a way of judging those that enter it's long path and approach it's gates. We do not know what to do with the recent influx of new inhabitants, but we do have many services in our town that can accommodate population control and we also tend to shape you and wash you into the mold we have created. Deeper and deeper we will allow you to dig, but please make sure you have a way to dig yourself out.

To add a few other awesome experiences in haunts I have enjoyed:
Brutal Planet queue line when it was in the warehouse
Frightmare using logs they got from Elitches when it closed
The airplane at Phantoms of the Speedway at Bandimere
and my favorite thing I have ever done to travel to haunts is via Limo and our decorated RV of Horror was a lot of fun.

I was a haunted house nut before pursing this stuff a little further. I thought I was the only one who took this stuff to the extreme. I even kept my tickets as collectors items.

It is cool and I of all people appreciate the effectivness of special effects done to make that scene happen, but you know my man, we will have a lot of them young haunters coming on the boards as the season unfolds and boy have I heard and seen some parents go crazy over the years at the drop of blood. I mean come on, you have seen my studio http://www.octoberlounge.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif, that thing is light weight compared to the amount of red fluids all over the place! It is hard to call. I mean I have a darn cow with a larger then life tongue and maybe someone doesn't like milk on the boards here or maybe even allergic. You can not please everyone, but you can sure try; and I like the rawness of that .gif. If someone does not like it, they can put tape over the icon on their computer screen where your icon is, or heck, don't look at it.

It is kind of like an accident on the side of the road. Everyone has to slow down and take a look, but those same people will not like your icon http://www.octoberlounge.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif. That is reality, your icon is not. It looks like something from ICP.

It is not like that exact same thing has been shown on the news at night or on select websites telling some of the reality based news from Iraq and such. I liked your old one personally only because of the way the hands moved on the ghost not because I am offended by your new one. I love it and have seen far worse on myspace and such. I think you need to find a cyborg cop type thing myself http://www.octoberlounge.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif, but heck, let it roll my friend.

True story about tape on a screen. When I was younger, my dad and I used to tape the TV screen for Atari bowling right where if you curve the ball you can get a 300 game or very close.

Just kidding my man! I liked the nostalgia feel as well. It is kind of like the Organ Grinder, Yum Yum Tree, and Casa Bonita all wrapped into one. Ok, I have been reading to much about cool things that have came and gone in Denver lately.

Oh, ouch, Milker. I'm sensitive about my weight but that's OK, I guess that's what comes when you are the reigning sopapilla eating champion (retired) and have since moved on to cheese enchiladas and let me tell you, once you have looked at a plate of 6 steaming enchiladas you have looked directly into the eyes of the beast.

I digress: the Organ Grinder, now that was a creepy place, I remember it felt similar to what I would suppose it would feel like to walk into a seedy porn theater for kids. Young'uns on the OL will probably not remember which is a damn shame. I'd liken it to Noch's quote... it makes me sad.

If you missed it I would equate it to the pizza version of Casa Bonita.

Luv2BScared

Good Lord the Organ Grinder.....I haven't thought about that stretch of Alameda in AGES!! There was something amiss there for sure...I think they may have been grinding real organs and putting them in the food. Hannibal would have been so happy there!!

Did you ever go to Chrystal Pizza when it was here??

And why are all the Shakey's pizza joints gone??

Oh and as for the topic......A man and his son huddled down on the floor in the corner of a haunt too scared to move. I was a good citizen and led them to the exit so they could finish wetting their pants outside. I honestly ALMOST felt sorry for them until I realized that they had gotten more than their money's worth, and then I was envious!! http://www.octoberlounge.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif

How I became the scarecrow.
Back in the mid '80s I lived in an old house in a rural area.I would make a scarecrow for halloween and dress up and answer the door,a few mild scares. Then one year I became the scarecrow, lived on a dark street.I wore the scarecrows costume from the year before.Burlap head cover, overalls, sitting in a chair away from the porch light.I would move and scare some kids.Later in the night a group of young teens came by,a neighbor kid, about 13,a little smart a*@!As the group walked up the sidewalk the kid told his friends to keep an eye on the door and he was going to knock the head off of my stupid scarecrow,I had it there every year and he was tired of it,he approached me not knowing I was real looking back at the door and took a big swing at my head,I grabbed his arm and grumbled, not this year kid.his mouth and eyes were bigger than my jack o lanterns, him and his friends ran down the street screaming,it was great. He did come back and said it was the best scare and set up his sisters and their friends to come by,so it all turned out good.

scarecrow
10-07-2008, 02:33 PM
No,back then I was not thinking that far ahead to film it,I have tried to duplicate it since with various moves around colorado but have not been able too. That was a classic,to scare the crap out of the town brat and to remember the look on his face.I did get a good friend that night also who brought his young son and assured him it was not real(the scarecrow)but alas as he reached to touch me and show him,I had to do it,I had to make him jump and soil himself.

I didn't grow up here, but we had a Jaycee's haunted house every year in Springfield Illinois that was worth the trip.

When I was a teen, I drove to St Louis and went to a place called "House on Haunted Hill" that was built in a bankrupt funeral parlor. CREEPY. It was a long attraction, and I remember the thing that freaked me the most was they had a couple "little people" working, one was a clown, and the other was a ghoul with a deep rhaspy voice. These guys came in under your radar (literally) and would suddenly be down around your knee making clown noises or horrible guttural growls. Made me jump straight in the air!
