So anyone know of any good home haunts in the Denver area? Would love to drive by some of them. My neighbors think it's funny that I'm in the business, and our house looks pretty boring, except for the random decoration my wife puts up.

If you know of a good home haunt, post the address.

I haven't personally seen it, but there is one on S. Newton St and Florida Ave that is supposed to be really cool. It made the news and the newspapers.

Whatever happened to Haunted Denver's favorite home haunter who was forever "going pro next year?" I felt bad because we kind of ripped him a new one after we'd been to his house. But it wasn't because his home haunt sucked. For a home haunt, it was good. It was because he kept trying to pass it off as the real deal when it was in a residential backyard in the middle of a suburban neighborhood and constructed mostly of black plastic and white bedsheets. That's called a home haunt, which is fine and cool, just call a spade a spade.

Enough of that, though.

I remember a different house from when I was about 12. It wasn't a walk-through haunt, but they had put together some great scenes throughout the yard with good props and lighting. And lurking about were three or four monsters wearing nun costumes, but with grotesque faces. As I perused the yard, one of them jumped through the open door into our family's van and scared the bejeezus out of my mom and my youngest siblings. It was classic.

We drove back to that house every year for the next few years, but they never even had so much as a porch light on. :(

Wow...I almost forgot about that one...how long ago WAS that? I remember us driving around for about an hour just looking for the place...crazy!

That was a great story about the house when you were 12...right up until the end...when there wasn't so much as a porch light on...now I'm sad.

LOL... sorry, I guess I've been posting kind of a lot of sad crap lately, huh?

I'll give you my imagined end to the story: The people who owned the house were so pleased by the positive response that they moved to a bigger part of town into a house with a bigger yard. With even more neighbors to spook, they could delight more people with their home haunt, which got better and better every year and was loved by everyone forever.

There, that's better. ;)

Here's another one....they don't ask admission, but are asking for a canned food donation to send to troops.

The Cooper haunted house opens at 6 p.m. Friday and stays open until midnight. Their home is located at 1512 S. Dawson St. in Aurora.

Oh, I remember him, Shade... I remember him well and he just sort of disappeared (although you can still find his incredibly close to licensed characters props on ebay from time to time).

From everything I read and the pictures I saw his home haunt wasn't horrible it was the "I want HD to come through and compare me to the best out there because I think I'm one of the best out there" and the subsequent "F-You guys!" after you did what he asked.

Oh them was the days.

On a lighter note there is about a 3 block stretch with people who deck out their yards between 104th and 107th on Grant. I don't think they run a haunt but their yard work is certainly paper worthy..

B.P. I know the street. When we used to do theater in Northglenn, we always had the October/Halloween slot (Halloween slot+Wizard of Oz+costume contest for the kiddos beforehand=pure marketing gold, FYI)...ANYWAY, I would always drive up Grant off 104th on the way, just to see all the lights and décor. I don't know if they all get together, or if it's a case of who-can-top-whom-this-year sort of thing.

We tagged along last night with 2 of our nieces who live in a new development off Hwy 7 and it was just like the old days...TONS of kids out trick-or-treating and every house had some kind of decoration...I was so happy...I almost cried. But not like I cried at Rob's story...ha ha!

Wow...too much sugar last night...I'll stop rambling, now!
