View Full Version : Off Season Gathering

Chris
11-05-2008, 07:50 PM
So what does everyone think about some type of off-season gathering. A lot of the folks on these boards can't do much during the season, but might like to get together and meet, put names to faces, etc. in the off-season. Any ideas? Thoughts? Where could we go? With some of the personalities here maybe we could get some sort of cage match going :P

Going to Casa Bonita this week, won't be able to stomach, or get the craving again for a while!

Cage match sounds great! I will begin training immediately! Casa Bonitas food will not be part of my diet either! Might slow me down! Cinzettis would be a better choice! Ya I love that place.

I like the idea of Casa Bonita: central, entertainment, plenty of room to sprawl.

I'm saying this after having been there last night and I'm still dealing with the repercussions of that. I think if we all have a nice long break from it it won't be too bad. Say, next week? :o

If we go to Casa Bonita we can use the limbs for taco meat. This way we won't get food poisoning.

I love the idea. For three years we've talked about this and it has never materialized. Let's make this one happen.

I love Casa Bonita too...though the food, well, not so much.

Maybe we should go some place that has spirits... (unless we have underage participants).

Let's see if we can hammer this down - how does a Friday night sound?

With the Holidays coming up, I'd think sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas would work the best. The Friday after Thanksgiving or perhaps the first Friday in December?

As for location, Casa Bonita has been suggested and seconded. If we put it to votes, lets vote and make some plans. If people have a different suggestion, now is the time to throw them out there.

I'd vote for a place in Arvada called the Cheshire Cat Brewpub, though I haven't been there in a long time, so it might be closed now for all I know. Casa Bonita works for me as well, but I think we should throw some other suggestions out there.

Hmmmm Casa Bonita. If it was a gathering, it would be hard to get a head count, and then hard for everyone to find everyone, especially since we don't know each other by sight.

So how could this dilemma be solved?

Some other ideas to throw out.

I've heard a lot of good things about this Double Daughters place downtown. Think it might be a little trendy, not as casual, and depending what night, a little loud to converse.

What would everyone prefer? An eating establishment, to have a good meal, perhaps a semi-private room?

A drinking establishment, set a time for cocktails and see who shows up?

A combo of the two, maybe some eating/drinking establishment, maybe with pool tables (Wynkoop?) where people who wanted to could eat, drink, or both, and a little time to hang out shooting pool.

Or, Casa Bonita, maybe I could call and see if they'd give us a private area, if we could give them a number of people.

I don't know, I'm rambling a little, whatdya think?

Chris

Oh crap, I almost forgot, I don't know if any of the above will accomodate the cage we're going to need!

SChaser783
11-11-2008, 10:38 PM
Double Daughters is rarely that loud, and its attached to Two Fisted Mario's so you can pick up a pie or a drink, depending on what mood you're in.

Are people of all ages going? Or is this an adult function?

Milker,

Good to see you back.

Perm,

I think either of those days could work. I will call D&B and see if we can get some sort of fixed deal, depending on attendance.

So, who's in? How many are you bringing with you? Round up who you know and either reply for them, or tell them to get their tails on here and reply so we can get a head count.

Sorry to cause a trend.

Thursdays and Fridays work well for me. Saturdays - Tuesdays can work, though not as well.

Thursday Dec. 5th is bad, but the rest of Thursdays and Fridays in December work.

Since I'm the only one with a Wednesday conflict and several people have Thursday or Friday conflicts, it might be best if everyone sticks with Wednesday. I don't know.

I like Luv2's idea - though my pocketbook may not be able to handle every day of the week...

Big Perm
11-22-2008, 03:16 PM
I think everyone who plans on attending (or has at least been active in the conversation) has added input. So let me get this right:

Saturdays can work, albeit not well, for everyone so how about proposing Saturday December 13 and with an RSVP by Sunday Nov. 30 that should be plenty of time for Chris (who has been nice enough to look into this) to get accommodations setup.

Thoughts? Objections?

I do say we need to get this in print sooner rather than later because the closer to Christmas we get (even for you Festivus people) we get full swing into the holiday season and it would probably be February before anything could get going again.

Ok, been gone in Orlando for IAAPA show, back now. Looks like either Thursday the 11th or Saturday the 13th, so let's put it to a vote. At this point we don't really have enough to constitute a large group, so shouldn't be a problem.

So vote, realizing two things, it's going to be hard to accomodate everyone, so if you're one that happens to get accomodated for, you better darn well show up, and second, if we end up doing that Saturday, holiday parties may abound which may make things a bit more difficult, and well, it's a Saturday so generally busier.

Well, good time and good beer (Although I much prefer Murphy's to Guinness - give me all the sh!t you want, I'll defend that one to the end)!

I won't give anybody crap for not making it there but let it be noted that I did "put up" so now I can refuse to shut up.

Seriously though, Mort, awesome to meet you and your wife. I had a good time talking with you and look forward to the next chance we have this opportunity.

Sorry to skelter (who made his way after work just to say hi) that I only got to meet you with my hands full and didn't get a chance to talk with you. I saw you come in and just figured that some drunken idiots had gotten out of hand and broke out into a tussle over a heated bout of Dance Dance Revolution. Had I known you weren't there on business I would've spent more time getting into your good graces. But, it was good meet you and hopefully next time you can stay longer.

To everyone else there, thanks for making the effort and being "those guys" that can't get the Halloween bug out of their system even 12 days shy of Christmas.

Huge thanks to everyone and it's always fun to have faces to names (and not a single one of you looked like serial killers like I was more than half expecting and threw me off).

Serial Killers look like any one else. How do you know one of us wasn't? ;)

Seriously, I had a good time. Thanks everyone who showed up. Now that it's over I realized that none of us played any games, just did the dinner thing. We should have gone to shoot some zombies together.

HellRaiser, sorry you couldn't make it. I was looking forward to meet a few more peeps.

Luv2, I'm also sorry you weren't there. I miss hanging out with you and the other Critics. Life does that though. I hope everything went well and continues to do so.

Thanks to HD for the fun night! The wife and I had a great time talking to all of you. Rev, you girlfriend and my wife had a great time talking about their shows and exchanged phone numbers.

I had a great time talking with Chris, Perm and Rev. Lgspider and Carla I did not get much talk time with the both of you but it was great to meet you. Lets do this again so we can meet some of the people that could not make it, maybe if my wife finds out the info of doing a little ghost hunting we could do that!

Kris, I hope everything worked out with your family. Hellraiser wish you could have made it.

It was great to meet all of you. I wish I could have stayed longer. Hopefully I will be able to, next time...

There will be a next time, right?
