I've heard it said that somewhere out there is/was a Haunted House that has multiple stories and to get to each level you have to find the secret door to get to the next level. No one has ever gotten to the top level.

No one knows the name for it, It supposed to cost $40 or something like that. Now, please someone tell me if its real or just bunk.

I was just waiting for someone to ask this. We get this question more than any other.

Yes, this is an urban legend that has been around for years, not just in Denver but in nearly every major city in America.

Some people have tried to capitalize on the rumor, opening haunted houses in other states that supposedly follow this type of formula, but there's not one in Colorado yet.

You can read more about this legend on Snopes at:

What's funny is that last year one of my friends said that it existed and I had read the mail room page and so I of course told her it didn't and she assured me it did. Needless to say, eventually we made a bet that if she could find it by the end of october I would give her 30 dollars and if she couldn't she'd have to pay me. I won, thanks to HD.

It's hard for me to believe that there are people gullible enough to fall for this premise in the first place. What sort of commercial space with thirteen stories would be entirely available for the month of October?
Would you take the elevator from floor to floor or walk all those flights of stairs?
Hmmmm, I don't think that most of the general public is in decent enough physical condition for such a strenuous undertaking, so it simply must have elevators. So, what would maximum occupancy be on this elevator? Gosh, that's gonna slow things down a bit, won't it?
That's just the tip of the iceberg in the multitude of implausibilities for this scenario.
Sheesh! People can be so silly.

I would like to touch on what robeaukatt12 said, the people that think this Haunt exists also think that owner/operators make millions of dollars doing this. These people truely believe that all you do to open a Huant is put up some walls, get some stupid kids for actors, open the doors, and watch the money roll in.

I have a little story about how clueless the general public is.
I work for a full service car wash. Well one day there was a power outage in the neigborhood. Now insted of letting people pull in and get frustrated by putting money into a machine that isn't going to work I tried to cut them of at the pass, as it were. Now this gentleman pulled up and I walked over to his car and told him " The power is out, I'm sorry you have to come back later"
"Well I can use the Vacuum, right?" He asked
" No, there's no power"
"Well you have water right, the bays still work."
"Sir there is no power in the niegborhood, how would the pumps work?"
"What does that have to do with anything?" and he left.
Now I guess this person just thought that we hang a hose on the wall and that soap and water come out though E.S.P. and that the pumps are run on gopher power.
So this is the moind set of the general public, they don't understand how things work, and under-simplify the process.

If people in the world had a clue there wouldnt be wars, racism, discrimination, hatred, poverty, crime and so many others. As old as I am , I have seen things that just could have been changed or stopped if someone would just stop and think.

You guys need to remember the simple rules

#1, The general public is dumb as a brick
#2, as dumb as the GP gets, they get dumber
#3, Exit for some Reason seems to mean "BIG GLOWING SIGN YOU NEED TO GO UNDER'........assholes.....

Im gonna hit someone this year, i can feel it.

Hopeless and left for dead

While the general public might be gullible and unaware of what it would actually take to pull off such an impossibly elaborate haunt I think urban legends are an imporant facet of horror culture. If we didn't incorporate these basic (and sometimes unrealistic) fears into some thread of our being the haunting season would be a whole lot less fun. Same goes for horror movies.

Growing up in suburbia stories of the Jersey Devil, Bloody Mary, Ouija Boards and the like were the halmark of sleepovers, double dog dares and a lot of good memories. And I'd like to believe the only limit to how awesome this years scares will be is imagination. If we keep our minds active with crazy unrealisitic rumors and urban legends there's no limit to throat horsening (I made that word up http://www.octoberlounge.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif ) screams.

I agree with Mood. also, why the hell is there not a decent horror flick based on this premise? That would really reignite the legend. Image the posts after a movie like that. now, where'd I put my beer...

You made the right choice, Jason.
After getting so excited to see this film for months (ever since the last Project Greenlight series ended), I was really let down. Here's what I managed to say about that awful night, through the trembling and tears...
