I made this a new topic. Come join us for the 2nd Haunted Denver Event, and the first event of 2009!

The new Friday the 13th will be playing on the giant screen at Colorado Mills.

So, tickets are being pre-sold right now to the Colorado Mills Theater, the showtime we will be attending is 7:45

I was thinking we could all get tickets to the 7:45 show (which we can buy online right now), and meet at Colorado Mills, I know there is a Chili's right by the theater, if everyone would like to eat, at say 6:00.

Who's in? Tell your friends, bring a friend. Let's get a "head count", no pun intended.

Yeah, tentatively count me in for the movie, maybe a guest.

On a side note, is anyone else disappointed that Jason is going to have a main part in this one? Friday the 13th is about Mrs. Voorhees.

OK, GIANT CURVEBALL HERE, READ ON.

I just came across a FREE screening of the movie on Monday the 9th at 7:00 pm at the Olde Town 14 in Arvada.

You need to go to www.gofobo.com/rsvp and enter the code RMN8692 (YOU ALSO WILL HAVE TO REGISTER FOR THEIR SITE) But then you can print 2 free passes to the movie.

So, if everyone who is going to be attending, wants to switch plans, and try to see it for free, before it comes out, we could give this a shot, if not we can stick with our plans.

LET ME KNOW IF YOU'RE ABLE TO GET PASSES, I JUST GOT 2.

Sounds good, I'm more than likely in.

Here's the plan. I called ahead and made a reservation for 20 at 6pm at the Chili's directly across the street from the theater. If there are additional people coming that I don't know about, let me know now, I'd hate for people to end up without a seat, conversely, if you're not going to dinner let me know that as well.

So:

Tommorow Night (2/13/09) Friday the 13th!

Colorado Mills - Chili's at 6 pm for Dinner

Colorado Mills Theater - 7:45 pm for Movie (buy your tickets online now at fandango.com)

See you all there!

The first Haunted Denver event of 2009 was a great time! About 24 +/- of us enjoyed a delicious Chili's meal (ok, so it was just Chili's but good), and then enjoyed a remake of classic 80's horror.

Thanks to everyone who attended! Here's a couple pics!

Good times last night! Did you guys go on to the Yard House?

Yes, a few of us did, that place is great! We've wanted to go there for a while, but every time we were going to, we were running late, or the wait was too long. Glad we went, I had a pint of Arrogant Bastard! (no comments please) Jesse had some beer I had never heard of in a goblet, sweet! 100+ beers on tap, definitely worth checking out!

While we're on the subject, I really enjoyed the movie. It's funny, I've heard a lot of critics saying "they didn't go anywhere new with it, it was just another Jason movie" these are the same people who have said prior "they took too many liberties, they didn't stay true to the original" It's like, come on now, will you ever be happy? I thought it was well done, and in the spirit of the movies that created Jason.

Anyone else care to share their thoughts on the movie? or the beer?

I can not comment on the beer you had? BUMMER!! :( Anyway I also enjoyed this moive! It had everything this movie should have in it. Dismemberment, blood, nudity and sex. What I was worried about at the end was Jason going through the chipper! :o

It was fun to see a slasher on the big screen again. I really don't care what critics say, as long as I enjoy it who cares what anybody says!

One other thing, we need to add to our list of places not to hide when chased by a serial killer! Under the dock next to the shore, however you CAN hide under the deck as long as you cover your mouth! ;)

HAHAHAHAHAHA....NO JOKE Mort!! And WHY do the ditzy girls in horror movies ALWAYS go upstairs where they find themselves trapped and are then inevitably killed? Once, just once, can they actually run out the door?

As for the movie, I enjoyed it. And yes Chris, the critics will never be happy. Too much like the original, too far away from the original....sigh. We just have to try them out for ourselves since we can't trust them.
My only disappointment came from a lack of energy from Jason himself. I wished his character had had a bit more intensity, thus making him scarier.
AND, I really wish that Trent, (The snob, jerk, screams like a girl pretty boy) had really died badly. He went out quick, and by the time he did I wanted to kill his character myself. (I was really rooting for Jason at that point)
The chipper...that scene bummed me out a bit only because I was really hoping for some really revolting gore at that point. Didn't happen. Maybe in he sequel....

Here's some behind the scenes footage, but caution for those who haven't seen the movie, it contains spoilers!!!

Wow, I'm bummed about the beer too. Any place that has Arrogant Bastard is fantastic in my book. I wonder if they had any Avery brews on Tap.

It was damn fun seeing all of you again to hang out.

LOL, I loved how covering your mouth made you magically invisible to Jason. Why don't more people do that? In all actuality, I did love the movie. Gratuitous boobs and people being killed are always fun to watch. Some deaths made me happy, not to mention LOL. I was just sad that they did some foreshadowing with the miter saw in the garage and then nothing.

I was a bit sad about the saw in the garage myself. BUT, I really liked that kid, so I was glad he didn't go out like that. They should have let him live, he was cool. :(

Rev I thought that myself when I saw the miter saw! Luv I agree with you also on the girl-screaming boy, way to quick, way to painless!

RIGHT?? Trent needed to go out slow and painful....he got lucky!! I watched the original Friday the 13th the other night...Kevin Bacon was the one I really wanted dead in that one....he died kind of cool....hehhehee we are some sick souls in here!!

Hello All!

Sorry i missed out on the fun! I eventually saw the film myself and personally loved it. My only gripe is that I wish some of the kills weren't so quick - it seemed Jason didnt toy with them at all. I did love that scene where he is about to kill the blonde and the camera gets right in his eyes. I read in Kodak magaize how difficult it was to shoot that scene b/c his eyes were so far back in the mask and they just wanted to light his eyes and not the mask. Good stuff. I look forward to the sequel for sure.

Now we have to look forward to the reincarnation of Freddy. Platinum Dunes is remaking Nightmare on Elm Street next. And apparently they have penned an amazing director for it already.

And of course H2. Wasnt the biggest fan of Rob Zombie's version (why does he love his rape scenes so much?) but you can check out photos here from on set. I would love to live in that town right now, they get to have Halloween twice a year!

I hope everyone is doing well!
